Sativa strains produce a “mind high,” an invigorating, energizing effect that can help reduce anxiety or stress. If you use sativa-dominant strains, you may get a boost of creativity and use it to be more productive. Some may use sativa strains to reduce chronic pain or increase serotonin (a neurotransmitter involved in the regulation of learning, mood, sleep, anxiety and appetite). Generally used in the day time but can be used at any time.
Indica strains are sought after for their intensely relaxing effects and higher levels of CBD which provide more health benefits. Some may experience increased mental/muscle relaxation, appetite and dopamine (a neurotransmitter that helps control the brain’s reward and pleasure centers). Indica strains also help with decreased nausea and acute pain. Indica is more commonly consumed at night due to its relaxation effects.
Hybrid strains are unique combinations of both sativa and indica in varying degrees. Often developed to target specific benefits from the parent strains. The effects can range from reducing anxiety and stress to easing symptoms of chemotherapy or radiation. Hybrid strains can be used throughout the day depending on each strains dominant effects.
